About Nancy:

I was introduced to Bayfield the summer of 1960 while working at Wilderness Trails Guest Ranch. Growing up at the foot of the bluffs above the Mississippi River, I was ready to live forever in the mountains! Rather reluctantly, I returned to the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, completed a liberal arts degree and then circled back to northern Colorado for a few years.

My husband Norm and I decided to return to my home area in Wisconsin to farm 300 acres. We wanted our children to experience rural living. Our farming included breeding and marketing registered angus cattle, planting crops, baling hay and keeping plenty of horses around for Little Britches Rodeo and High School Rodeo.

In 1992 we became empty nesters! We had built a brand new home overlooking the river valley adjacent to our now sold farm. An attitude of “what next?” evolved into a January trip to the San Juans to see what winter was like in southwestern Colorado. It was no surprise that we found the location suiting our outdoors interests! And, to clinch that deal, we sold our new home in a relatively quiet real estate market in Wisconsin.

If you remember the winter of 92-93, we will never forget being buried in 5-6’ of snow while building our new home in Beaver Meadows, east of Bayfield. Unforgettable!

All of us are mesmerized by the grandeur of the San Juan Mountains, the crystal clear streams and the glorious sunny days. The scenic natural resources has helped to stretch the city boundaries of Durango, Bayfield and Pagosa Springs. Open space, that tangible visual satisfaction, is prized and apparent by parks, biking and walking trails, streams protected from erosion and conservation easements. National forest and the Weminuche Wilderness acreages are used year round in recreational pursuits.

To assist you in your exploration of La Plata County properties, I would like to share local information. Briefly, Bayfield is the physical center where roads radiate north to gorgeous Vallecito country, south to Ignacio and the destination resort of Sky Ute Casino, east to Pagosa Springs and Navajo Lake and west to Durango, Mancos and Cortez. As a Realtor, let me be your guide on a tour of scenic possibilities!
